Product Information,
Specifications and Pricing Below
The Log Home Sealant Check Mate 2 is an outstanding water
resistant log home sealant that prevents water and air
infiltration through pronounced cracks (called
checks) in logs, timbers and wood siding.
Caulking is an obvious solution to this problem, but
caulking does not work because of limits in adhesion and
weatherability.
As a check filler, Check Mate 2 forms a tough elastic filler
and coating. It has superb color stability and resists
ultraviolet rays, ozone, mold, mildew and airborne contaminates. Even the most troublesome leaks can be sealed
with Check Mate 2.
It's especially
important to seal upward-facing checks that will
accumulate water. Otherwise, these will be sites where
rot will start in the logs. Checks that occur on the sides
of a home exposed to excessive wind or rain should also
be filled. Check
Mate 2 accepts a stain. It dries and cures much more rapidly than
the previous formulation. Once cured, it will not turn white or get
soft when exposed to water. The color is apparent right out of the
tube except for the clear which comes out white but clears within a couple
of days.
When cured, Check Mate 2 is not shiny and will better blend
in with the surrounding wood.
The Check-Kit includes a 32-oz.,
reusable tube of Check Mate with applicator nozzle
and 100 feet of Backer Rod.
The application instructions
for Check Mate 2 are exactly the same as before including the use of
Backer Rod in checks prior to sealing them!
Check Mate 2 is now available in these
colors.
Following
is a list of the new colors along with the stains which most closely
match the colors.
Below this chart is
another chart with the Stain Colors and their numbers to help with
